What are the signs and symptoms of a pediatric urethral stricture?

Urethral stricture symptoms can range from mild to severe.

• Blood in the semen or urine

• Frequent starting and stopping of urinary stream

• Inability to completely empty the bladder

• Inability to control urination (incontinence)

• Inability to urinate

• Pain in the pelvic or lower abdominal area

• Pain or burning when urinating

• Penile swelling and pain

• Reduction in the volume of urine

• Sudden, frequent urges to urinate

• Urine that is dark in color

• Weak urine flow

• Catheter (tube to train urine out of the body) insertion

• Pelvis fracture

• Radiation

• Scar tissue

• Surgery performed on the prostate
